Wedding Etiquette

There are so many wedding etiquette rules that I find stupid.

Here is the most recent one that I have come upon:

Sources:

  • theknot.com
  • huffingtonpost.com
  • weddingwire.com
  • and various other places

The rule:
Don't put wedding registry information on any wedding invites.

Reasoning:
Who the hell knows?
-or maybe-
When sending an invite you are requesting their presence not their presents.

The "solution":
Put wedding registry information on your wedding website (because everyone knows everyone has one of those *disgusted hocking loogie noise*)
or
Just have it spread word of mouth of course *another disgusted loogie noise*

Real Talk:
Ok, I'm inviting you to my wedding reception. I (kind of) expect you to come. I also expect you to bring me something. Do I expect you to bring me something because that expectation was created within me? NO, I have been told my whole life through words and examples that that is what happens when someone gets married. So here's my take on the whole sitch.

You know I want you to bring me a present. I know you feel like you should bring me a present. You know its a hassle to find something that I and my new husband will like. I know that you want it made as easy as possible. I am not buying that whole **let's pretend I am not expecting you to bring me something** thing when everyone knows that you are expected to bring me something. So why bother with that ancient, antiquated, decrepit rule and instead make it easier. I am going to tell you on my wedding reception invitation because you also don't want to have to go look at my wedding website or call my mom or his mom and ask where I am registered.

Let's be real people.

Thanks

~ oh and by the way, I am registered at amazon.com so if any of you want to buy me a wedding present, head to amazon.com to mine and Christopher's registry and take your pic - Thanks in advance ;) ~

P.E. Class Evaluation

Here is what I wrote for the PE course evaluation in the section where it said how could the course be improved:

"It is a pointless class that I learned nothing in. Also, the Placeout exam is totally bogus. I doubt even a professor in the Kinesiology and Health dept could pass with anything more than an 80. It is definitely tailored so that students will not pass it or if they do pass it, they get so low a score that it would be better for them to just complete the labs. I find that completely nonsensical. I studied for the exam and passed, but the best I could have received a mid-80 in the class. Why even offer the exam if it is designed for students to fail? Then they have to do all of those pointless labs which do not teach anyone anything. I'm 90% sure that most people make up all of the information on those labs anyway. It is a totally pointless class.

Also, I play for a club team here at UW, but since I wasn't playing during the summer (it has to be concurrent) it didn't count towards the activity. I think that is silly. I have played for the last 4 semesters and I plan on playing next year. Why is that not good enough? Why does it not count if I am not playing during the class? I find this whole PE credit to be a waste of my time, energy, and frustration. It is pointless and I am glad to be done with it. By the way, did I mention it was pointless and the Placeout exam is fraudulent?"

Here is what I wrote in the section where it asked what was good about the class:

"It was easy"

Feminism or maybe just Equality

I hate it when I have an inspiration but I cannot write about it as fully as I would like because someone may get the wrong impression because I speak passionately (read: I am a lunatic).

So here is what I can say:

Strong women are not to be feared or avoided

No one told me that I would not enjoy this:

So I am getting married soon.

There's a lot of stuff that goes into it.

No one told me a lot of this stuff. No one told me that I would have to try on the dress a million times. No one told me I would get hives all over my body for the majority of the two months prior. No one told me that I wouldn't be able to find earrings for my triple forward helix that would look good for a wedding. No one told me that I would have to go to the store 5,019 times the week of. No one told me I would have nightly panic attacks. No one told me that it would be 50+ degrees for weeks before and then snow buckets the day before pictures. No one told me I would have to talk to people left, right, and center. No one told me that floral tape makes your hands feel disgusting. No one told me that everyone would have opinions about things that don't even concern them. No one told me I would have to be the center of attention. No one told me I should fake liking being the center of attention. No one told me that I would not sleep well for days. No one told me Christopher and I would get grumpier and grumpier as the days got closer. No one told me I would have to jump through all sorts of stupid hoops. No one told me to elope.

No one told me I would be fairly unhappy through this process.

THAT BEING SAID: I am not ungrateful. I am the opposite. I am so excited to marry the greatest human ever. I am so thankful that I can do all of these things that others never get to experience. No matter how it happens, I am glad it is happening.
